Description

The Tempest / Islander One Design Class is really two different one meter boats from the same manufacturer. Each boat has an all fiberglass hull with mahogany mast and booms.  These boats have a 8.75 in beam and 600 sq inches of sail area.  The primary difference in these boats is they have different deck treatments.  The Tempest features an oval deck hatch cover, The Islander features a more scale appearing deckhouse and cockpit.  They come as pre-built kits or in fully finished, ready to race options. Both have the same hull form and are about the same weight.

The Tempest/Islander Class requires the sails to be only limited to 600 square inches and on a mast no more than 52" high. This allows for some experimentation while still holding control over the hull forms and weight.
